Toluca has advanced to the Leagues Cup final after a 2-0 victory over Leon in the semi-finals. The match, which saw long stretches of controlled play, ultimately descended into a tense finish marked by red cards and missed opportunities.
The breakthrough came in the 40th minute when Federico Pereira found the back of the net with a strike from the edge of the box. Leon attempted to respond but struggled to generate significant danger before the halftime whistle.
In the second half, Toluca doubled their lead in the 68th minute through Federico Viñas, who capitalized on a chance inside the area. The challenge grew steeper for Leon when Jhohan Romana was sent off in the 75th minute, leaving the team with ten men.
Toluca had a prime opportunity to seal the game in the 87th minute, but Jorge Díaz struck the post. Two minutes later, Toluca's Bruno Méndez was also shown a red card, yet Leon could not force a comeback, and Toluca held on to secure their spot in the final.
