Thibaut Courtois to skip Nations League after talks with Belgium boss

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has officially confirmed he will step away from international duties for the upcoming Nations League cycle. The decision follows a face-to-face meeting in Madrid with new Belgium head coach Mark van Bommel.

The 34-year-old explained that the sabbatical is necessary for his physical recovery as he manages his workload in the final stages of his career. Courtois clarified that this is not a permanent retirement, though he would only return early in the event of an injury crisis among the goalkeeping ranks.

The dialogue with Van Bommel was blunt regarding future prospects.
