Suzuki hat-trick leads Freiburg to win over Werder
Yuito Suzuki scored a hat-trick to help Freiburg secure a dominant 4-1 victory against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga opener.

In the opening round of the 2026/27 Bundesliga season, Freiburg secured a dominant 4-1 victory over Werder Bremen at the Europa-Park Stadion. The hosts controlled the match, comfortably securing all three points.
Yuito Suzuki was the standout performer, opening the scoring in the 29th minute. Just before the break, Igor Matanovic added a second goal to give Freiburg a comfortable lead. Suzuki continued his clinical form in the second half, finding the net twice more to complete his hat-trick.
The visitors managed a consolation goal through Dariusz Stalmach on the 76th minute, but it was not enough to spark a comeback. The result marks a strong start to the campaign for Freiburg.
Looking ahead, Freiburg will travel to face Paderborn on Saturday, August 5, while Werder Bremen is set to host RB Leipzig on the same day.
