Spain defender Marc Cucurella has made a surprising pledge ahead of the World Cup final against Argentina. The 27-year-old says he will retire from international football if his team secures the title.

Following their success at Euro 2024, Cucurella feels that adding a World Cup trophy would be the perfect way to conclude his international career. Having played every minute of the tournament in North America, he believes he would have achieved everything possible for his country.

If we win the World Cup, I'll call Luis the next day and tell him not to count on me anymore, that I'm retiring from the national team. With a European Championship and a World Cup, I can't do any better. Marc Cucurella

Beyond his retirement plans, Cucurella has also promised to honour Spain manager Luis de la Fuente. Should Spain overcome the defending champions, the defender intends to get a tattoo of the manager's face on his bicep. For now, his primary focus remains on the upcoming clash against Argentina.
