London City Lionesses
Spain international Mapi Leon has officially joined London City Lionesses on a three-year contract. The 31-year-old moves to the English club following her departure from Barcelona, where she spent nine seasons and won 27 trophies, including the most recent Women's Champions League title.
Leon joins a rapidly evolving project backed by American investor Michele Kang. The club has already made significant waves this transfer window, adding stars such as former Barcelona teammate Alexia Putellas and England goalkeeper Mary Earps.
I'm excited and happy to be here. It's an interesting and attractive project. I have seen what is being built and what is taking shape. I wanted to test myself in another country, in another league, and playing a different type of football. Mapi Leon
London City Lionesses, who finished sixth in their inaugural Women's Super League season, have set their sights on European qualification. Leon is expected to bring significant experience and leadership to the squad as they look to challenge the established powers in the English game.
