Shane Mosley Jr makes weight at second attempt for Denzel Bentley bout
Shane Mosley Jr required two attempts to hit the middleweight limit for his upcoming clash with Denzel Bentley at the Copper Box Arena.
Shane Mosley Jr missed the middleweight limit on his first attempt during Friday's official weigh-in ahead of his clash with Denzel Bentley. The bout is set to take place this Saturday at the Copper Box Arena in London.
The American contender, son of boxing legend Shane Mosley, initially stepped on the scales one pound over the 160lb limit. Even after removing extra gear behind a screen, he remained above the required weight. It took the fighter an hour to shed the final pound before successfully hitting the mark.
Denzel Bentley, who hit the 160lb limit precisely on his first try, observed the process and expressed his hope for a competitive and healthy fight. The match serves as the chief support to the main event between Chris Billam-Smith and Cheavon Clarke.
Both main event fighters also successfully weighed in. Cheavon Clarke tipped the scales at 198.8lbs, while Chris Billam-Smith weighed in at 199.5lbs. Both athletes head into the contest following successful performances in Bournemouth earlier this summer.
