Sebastián Cáceres' move to Celta Vigo is effectively off

The transfer of defender Sebastián Cáceres to Spanish side Celta Vigo has effectively collapsed. While the Uruguayan player was prepared for the move to Europe, the Spanish club has decided to abandon negotiations due to a lack of communication from América's management.

According to transfer market expert César Luis Merlo, Celta submitted an offer of 8 million dollars for the central defender two weeks ago. However, the club from Mexico failed to provide a definitive answer, leading the Spanish team to move on.

“Celta presented an 8 million dollar offer, waited 15 days, and eventually said: ‘Enough, I am going to try to sign another player’,” noted César Luis Merlo.

At present, the deal is considered dead. Unless there is a drastic turn of events in the coming hours, Cáceres will remain with América. This marks the third time the player's European ambitions have been thwarted, following previously failed moves to Napoli and Sevilla.
