Miguel Herrera reaches 50 career expulsions as coach
Atlante head coach Miguel 'Piojo' Herrera has been sent off for the 50th time in his career following an incident against Pumas.

Atlante head coach Miguel 'Piojo' Herrera has extended his disciplinary record. During the match against Pumas, the Mexican manager received his 50th red card since beginning his coaching career.
The incident occurred in the 33rd minute of the 12th round fixture. Referee Luis Enrique Santander showed Herrera a second yellow card followed by a red, citing a gesture made by the coach that the official deemed unacceptable. This ejection marks his 42nd red card within Liga MX.
Over the last 15 years, Herrera's volatile temperament from the technical area has frequently drawn criticism. His career total includes stints with Club América (17), Atlante (12), Monterrey (8), Tijuana (6), Estudiantes Tecos (4), Tigres (2), and Veracruz (1).
Herrera leads the list of most expelled coaches in Mexican football history. He is followed by the late Tomás Boy (32), Carlos Reinoso (27), and both Rubén Omar Romano and Ricardo La Volpe (21 each).
Due to this latest dismissal, Miguel Herrera is expected to be absent from the dugout for Atlante's next match against Bravos de Juárez in the 13th round of the Apertura 2026.
