Marc Guiu set for permanent Chelsea exit to RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig are on the verge of finalizing a deal to sign Chelsea striker Marc Guiu. While the transfer is not yet officially complete, all parties expect the move to be concluded without any complications.

The 20-year-old is preparing to leave Stamford Bridge permanently after falling out of favor. Chelsea initially demanded a fee of around £25 million, but the club opted to lower their valuation this week to facilitate the striker's departure.

Guiu’s exit became inevitable after head coach Xabi Alonso omitted him from the squad for the opening matches against Fulham and Luton Town. The manager has made it clear that the young attacker does not feature in his long-term tactical plans.

The move marks a swift end to Guiu's time in London. He signed a six-year deal in July 2024 after Chelsea activated a €6 million release clause from Barcelona. Last season proved difficult, with Guiu making only eight Premier League appearances, while a loan spell at Sunderland was cut short due to a striker crisis at Stamford Bridge.

Guiu is set to become the third recognized striker to leave Chelsea this window, following permanent departures for Nicolas Jackson and Liam Delap. Chelsea have restructured their attack, with Joao Pedro established as the first-choice striker alongside new arrivals Emmanuel Emegha and Danny Welbeck.
