Luciano Herrera linked with Pumas move
Argentine winger Luciano Herrera is reportedly set to join Pumas to bolster Esteban Solari's attacking options.

Pumas continues to reshape its squad and tactical identity. The club's management is reportedly closing in on the signing of 30-year-old Argentine winger Luciano Herrera, currently playing for Newell's Old Boys.
Herrera is being targeted to cover the left flank, a position that became vacant following Jordan Carrillo's departure to Guadalajara. Head coach Esteban Solari is looking for the experience and offensive unpredictability that the Argentine can bring to the squad. While primarily a left winger, he is versatile enough to play on the right or as a second striker.
During the 2026 season, Herrera has registered one assist in 16 appearances, 10 of which were as a starter. His career includes stints at Gimnasia y Tiro, Central Norte, Deportivo Maipú, and Defensa y Justicia before his time at Newell's.
The move would occupy a non-formed-in-Mexico (NFM) roster spot. The potential arrival has sparked some debate among fans on social media, with many expressing concern over the player's age and recent statistical output, questioning whether he provides the necessary quality boost for the team in Liga MX.
