The 33-year-old has become a standout figure for the side, helping them secure their place in the German league. Last season, he kept 13 clean sheets in 30 matches, anchoring a defense that conceded just 31 goals—the best record in the second division. He has carried that form into the current campaign, making 14 saves in the opening rounds and keeping a clean sheet against Bayern Munich, where his performance against Harry Kane drew widespread acclaim.

This resurgence coincides with Jurgen Klopp taking charge of the German national team. Klopp, who signed Karius for Liverpool in 2016, understands the player's development better than anyone. While Karius has yet to earn a senior international cap, experts like Oliver Kahn and Roman Weidenfeller view a call-up as a realistic prospect.
