Joel Huiqui: Cruz Azul are title contenders and aim for the top
Joel Huiqui is confident that Cruz Azul can fight for the title and is targeting first place in the Apertura 2026 standings.

Cruz Azul is not only looking to finish the Apertura 2026 in the top positions, but is also convinced they can fight for the championship. Joel Huiqui made this clear, asserting that "La Máquina" is a title candidate and their primary objective for the end of the regular season is to reach the top spot in a direct battle with América and Chivas.
The team is currently in a very tight race for the top spots. Huiqui emphasized the need to prove their status as the best team during these final, decisive matches of the tournament.
