England international and Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney has entered a not guilty plea regarding assault charges stemming from an incident at a nightclub in London's Soho district. The 30-year-old appeared at Southwark Crown Court to face allegations of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The incident, investigated by the Metropolitan Police, occurred on December 6 last year on Wardour Street. According to the prosecution, a dispute broke out between the footballer and another patron, Saber da Silva, during which Toney allegedly headbutted the individual before landing several punches.
Judge Christopher Gaisford scheduled the trial for June 12, 2028, just days after the start of Euro 2028 on June 9. The judge apologized for the long delay, citing the severe backlog and pressure currently facing the British court system.
Toney has been released on unconditional bail. The forward, who previously played for clubs including Newcastle, Peterborough, and Brentford before his 2024 move to the Saudi Pro League, remains available for selection, having earned 10 caps and scored one goal for the England national team.
