Iraola provides update on Jeremy Jacquet's Liverpool debut and Joe Gomez injury
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has outlined a timeline for Jeremy Jacquet's debut and reacted to Joe Gomez's injury during the pre-season match against Sunderland.
Liverpool supporters are keen to see £60m signing Jeremy Jacquet in action, but manager Andoni Iraola has urged patience regarding the Frenchman's integration. The defender has been working on his fitness following a long-term shoulder injury, and the coaching staff is determined not to rush him during the intensive pre-season tour.
Iraola clarified that Jacquet is expected to feature in the final game of the US tour.
With Jeremy, we decided to take it easy with him. He has been a lot of months without playing with a shoulder injury. So, I think we are going to take it easy with him. He will probably play the last game of this US tour and he will have time to have minutes. Andoni Iraola
However, the friendly victory against Sunderland was marred by an injury to Joe Gomez. The defender was forced off the pitch, leaving the manager disappointed just as the squad was finding its rhythm.
