Following a bitter derby defeat to Manchester City, Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is facing mounting scrutiny over his tactical choices. Pundits have zeroed in on his continued exclusion of in-form striker Benjamin Sesko, who has been limited to substitute cameos in all four Premier League matches so far.
Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Gary Lineker voiced his confusion:

Lineker and Alan Shearer both argued that Carrick failed to introduce Sesko early enough against City to shift the game's momentum. Shearer emphasized that the striker should have been brought on at least ten minutes sooner, and further questioned the squad's attacking balance despite heavy summer investment. He suggested that the team's forward options remain unconvincing compared to their top-tier rivals.
With United languishing in 13th place, the pressure is building on Carrick to spark a turnaround. He faces a significant selection headache ahead of the upcoming fixtures against Brighton in the Carabao Cup and Fulham in the Premier League.
