Former Manchester United midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba has suggested that Cristiano Ronaldo is capable of competing at the highest level until the age of 45. Given the Al-Nassr forward's relentless drive and current form, a 2030 World Cup appearance is being viewed by his former teammate as a realistic goal rather than a fantasy.
I genuinely believe Cristiano Ronaldo can play until 44 or 45 years old. I am not surprised at all by what he is doing because I knew him when he was 17 years old. Eric Djemba-Djemba
The 2030 tournament, which will be co-hosted by Portugal, provides a symbolic stage for what Djemba-Djemba describes as the ultimate fairy tale: a father-son duo representing the national team. Cristiano Jr, who is currently 15 and playing within the Al-Nassr academy system, has already started making appearances for Portugal’s U-16 side.
While Djemba-Djemba acknowledges the immense difficulty for his son to reach the same elite status as his father, he emphasized that the potential for a shared professional appearance would be a momentous occasion for Portuguese football. As the senior Ronaldo shows no signs of slowing down, the prospect of him waiting for the next generation to take the mantle remains a compelling narrative in world football.
