Celtic and Rangers are waiting for the Scottish FA appellate tribunal to deliver a verdict on their appeals against stadium closure orders. The two Glasgow clubs are challenging the ruling that forces them to play their next home Scottish Cup matches behind closed doors.
The penalty was issued in late August following disorder during last season's quarter-final match at Ibrox. In addition to the stadium bans, both clubs are contesting individual fines of £100,000. The incident involved fans clashing on the pitch, the use of fireworks, and the throwing of missiles, which resulted in injuries to police officers and 43 arrests.
An independent review by Mark Blackbourne concluded that the chaos nearly escalated into a violent mass confrontation. The report criticized the clubs for operational failings and the Scottish FA for not taking a sufficiently robust stance on crowd disorder. Both teams were previously warned that further unacceptable behavior could lead to additional matches behind closed doors.
