Arsenal explored the possibility of signing Chelsea forward Joao Pedro during the summer transfer window. However, the club opted against pursuing formal negotiations.
According to BBC journalist Sami Mokbel, Chelsea made it clear immediately that the Brazilian forward was not for sale. The club's firm stance effectively ended Arsenal's interest in the player.
Internally, sources at the Emirates Stadium noted that even without Chelsea's refusal, there were doubts regarding whether Joao Pedro would fully align with Mikel Arteta's tactical system. Consequently, the Gunners shifted their focus to other attacking targets.
Arsenal are set to host Chelsea today at 18:30.
