Arne Slot in talks with AC Milan after Liverpool sacking

Arne Slot, who was dismissed by Liverpool on Saturday, is already in discussions to land a major new role. The Dutchman has reportedly become the primary target for AC Milan, who are looking for a successor to Massimiliano Allegri following a disappointing campaign that saw the club finish fifth in Serie A.

Talks between Milan and Slot's representatives are understood to be underway as the Italian giants look to secure their new manager before other potential suitors enter the race. Despite his exit from Anfield, Slot’s reputation remains strong across Europe.

Slot's tenure at Liverpool ended after two seasons. While he led the club to a Premier League title in 2024-25, tensions eventually grew due to his perceived conservative playing style. This frustration was shared by key players, with Mohamed Salah notably calling for a return to a more intense attacking identity.

As Slot moves toward a potential Serie A switch, Liverpool has begun the process of selecting a new manager. Former Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola is currently considered the favorite, though the club is also evaluating Pierre Sage, Oliver Glasner, and Sebastian Hoeness.
