Benfica and Ukraine national team goalkeeper Anatoliy Trubin has opened up about the individual who had the biggest impact on his professional development. The Ukrainian keeper identified his former Shakhtar Donetsk teammate Andriy Pyatov as a crucial mentor during his early years at the club.
I can say that it is Andriy Pyatov because we worked together. I joined the team at 17, as a young boy from the academy, while he was already an experienced goalkeeper who had played so many matches and been through many situations. He really helped me at various stages of my career. Anatoliy Trubin
Andriy Pyatov played for the Donetsk club for 16 years, from 2007 to 2023. During that tenure, he made 482 appearances, won 11 Ukrainian league titles, eight national Cups and Super Cups, and helped the club win the UEFA Cup in the 2008/09 season. This extensive experience provided a vital foundation for Trubin as he broke into the first team.
