Fulham has officially appointed Alvaro Arbeloa as their new head coach. The 43-year-old Spaniard has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2029.

This move marks a return to London for Arbeloa, who previously played for West Ham United toward the end of his professional playing career. His English experience also includes a spell at Liverpool.

Arbeloa joins from Real Madrid, where he managed the side for 28 matches at the end of last season before being succeeded by Jose Mourinho.

Interestingly, Arbeloa’s first competitive match in charge of the Cottagers will be a London derby against Chelsea. The Blues are now managed by Xabi Alonso, the coach whose departure last season created the vacancy that Arbeloa filled at Real Madrid.
