Barcelona kicked off their pre-season preparations with a 4-1 victory over Club Europa. Among the standout participants was 19-year-old forward Alex Gonzalez, who has navigated the jump to first-team training with notable maturity.
Although Gonzalez signed a deal primarily focused on his role with the reserve side, the coaching staff opted to integrate him into first-team training from the start. Comfortable on both wings, the youngster is known for his dribbling ability and high goal-scoring frequency, having finished as one of the top scorers in the Liga de Honor.
The player's transition into the dressing room has been smooth, aided by the support of coaching staff and teammates like Gariba and Ebrima, who previously played alongside him in the youth system.
Head coach Hansi Flick intends to bring all young players who impressed during the initial two-week camp to St George's Park. This decision sets the stage for a potential debut for Gonzalez next Friday, when Barcelona take on Birmingham City.
