Al-Rayyan striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has suffered a serious injury ahead of the new season. The Qatari club confirmed that the 31-year-old sustained damage to the lateral ligament in his left leg following a collision during a training session.
Medical tests indicate that Mitrovic will be sidelined for between two and three months. The striker is currently undergoing a comprehensive rehabilitation program overseen by the team's medical and technical staff to ensure a full recovery.
This is a significant setback for the club, as Mitrovic has become a focal point of their attack since joining from Saudi side Al-Hilal in September 2025. During his time with the Qatari team, he has recorded 7 goals and 4 assists in 14 appearances.
The team is currently in Spain for their pre-season training camp under new head coach Luka Catani. They recently played a 3-3 draw in a friendly match against English club Rochdale.
