Al-Ittihad have entered advanced negotiations with Neom to sign left-back Fares Abdi during the current transfer window. According to Saudi press reports, communication between the two clubs is active, with Al-Ittihad eager to finalize the deal swiftly as they prioritize the player to bolster their left flank.

German coach Jens Wissing is driving the recruitment effort. He is currently evaluating full-back Muadh Faqihi before making a definitive decision on the left-back position. This move is part of the club management's broader strategy to restructure their list of foreign players.

The club intends to release Albanian defender Mario Mitaj should his potential move to Italian club Genoa be finalized. This would allow them to bring in a new foreign midfielder to fill the vacancy. While interest in Abdi was first reported by the newspaper Arriyadiyah on March 15, negotiations have since progressed significantly.
