Ahmed Hegazi set for new administrative role following retirement

Former Egypt defender Ahmed Hegazi is moving into the next chapter of his career after confirming his retirement from professional football at the age of 35. Following his departure from Neom SC at the end of last season, the veteran is reportedly close to accepting a new role within the Saudi Roshn League setup.

Reports from the Saudi newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat suggest that Neom SC is eager to capitalize on Hegazi's extensive experience by appointing him to a position within the club's administrative staff. This move is expected to be part of a broader restructuring strategy currently being implemented at both administrative and technical levels within the club.

While the specific details of the position remain undisclosed, the club is anticipated to make an official announcement regarding the appointment in the coming days. Hegazi concluded his playing career at Neom, having joined in the summer of 2024. He played a key role in helping the side win the Yelo First Division League and secure promotion to the top flight.

Hegazi's career included notable successes, most prominently his time at Al-Ittihad, where he captained the side to a Saudi League title in 2023, ending a 14-year wait for the trophy. His illustrious career also saw him represent clubs such as Al-Ahly, Fiorentina, Perugia, and West Bromwich Albion.
