Former Egypt international Ahmed Hegazi has wasted no time in starting his post-playing career. Just days after announcing his retirement from professional football, the veteran defender has been appointed as the assistant sporting director at Saudi club Neom.

The club confirmed the appointment via their official channels, highlighting the continuity of his leadership role. "After years of dedication on the pitch, a new chapter in the career of a captain who concluded his journey wearing the Neom badge begins," the club stated. "We welcome Captain Ahmed Hegazi as assistant sporting director at Neom club."

Hegazi joined Neom in the summer of 2024 from Al-Ittihad Jeddah. Over the past two seasons, the 35-year-old made 52 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist. Beyond his statistics, his influence within the squad was cited as a key factor in the club's development and promotion success.

By appointing him to this administrative role, Neom management is looking to leverage the leadership and organizational experience Hegazi demonstrated while acting as a standout voice in the dressing room.
