Zakaria advised Camara to stay at Monaco after failed Chelsea transfer

Denis Zakaria has spoken openly about his role in Lamine Camara remaining at Monaco. When the Senegalese midfielder was on the verge of a transfer to Chelsea, the Swiss midfielder advised his teammate to focus on their current project rather than rushing a move to London.

"Chelsea? I told him it's good there, but it's better here," Zakaria stated following Monaco's win over Lens. The Swiss international speaks from experience, having spent the 2022/23 season on loan at the London club from Juventus.

The proposed move to Stamford Bridge was valued at approximately £47 million. The player had already agreed on personal terms and passed a medical, but Monaco’s board blocked the deal at the final hour due to shifts in their plans regarding Folarin Balogun.

Camara himself has since confirmed he has moved on and is fully focused on the current season in France. While the 22-year-old does not rule out future opportunities to move to the Premier League, he remains committed to his current team for now.
