Wesley ruled out of Brazil's World Cup squad with injury
Right-back Wesley will miss the World Cup after medical exams confirmed a thigh injury. Atalanta's Ederson has been called up as his replacement.
Brazil right-back Wesley has been ruled out of the upcoming World Cup. The player sustained an injury during Saturday's friendly match against Egypt.
Following medical evaluations on Sunday, including an MRI scan, a muscle injury in his left adductor was confirmed. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) expressed its regret, noting that Wesley remains a valued part of the group aiming for a sixth world title.
To address the vacancy, the coaching staff has called up Ederson from Atalanta. The midfielder is expected to join the squad's delegation in the United States this Monday.
