The conduct of Vinicius Junior during the final stages of Real Madrid's season has sparked significant criticism in the Spanish press. Reports suggest his absence from the emotional farewell for Dani Carvajal and David Alaba is a symptom of current disarray within the squad.
While Carvajal was concluding his long-standing career with the club on the pitch, the Brazilian forward was reportedly already scouting for his upcoming holiday. The media noted sarcastically that Vinicius appeared to have prioritised his early break and preparations for international duty under Carlo Ancelotti over the club's final farewell moments.
Dani Carvajal played his final match for the club on Saturday in a 4-2 victory over Athletic Bilbao, visibly emotional during his post-match speech. Over his 13-year tenure, the Spaniard made 451 competitive appearances and secured 27 trophies. David Alaba is also set to depart following the expiry of his contract this summer.
The season ended without any silverware for the Spanish giants. Real Madrid lost the LaLiga title to Barcelona, exited the Copa del Rey against Albacete, and were eliminated from the Champions League by Bayern Munich. Commenting on the atmosphere, the local press remarked that while the old tradition of the club bowed out to applause, the current team continues to struggle with internal instability.
