The Turkish Football Federation has officially announced the departure of head coach Vincenzo Montella. The 52-year-old Italian, who had been in charge of the national team since September 2023, leaves his post following a series of unsatisfactory performances.
The decision follows the team's early exit from the 2026 World Cup, where Turkey finished bottom of Group D with only three points. Despite being considered contenders for the knockout stages prior to the tournament, the team failed to progress.
The final factor for the federation was a streak of four consecutive defeats during the September and October Nations League matches. Throughout his tenure, Montella managed 40 games for Turkey, recording 21 wins, 5 draws, and 14 losses.
