Torrense stun Sporting to win Portuguese Cup
Second-division side Torrense pulled off a sensational victory against Sporting in the Portuguese Cup final.
A major upset occurred in the 2025/26 Portuguese Cup final at the Estadio Nacional in Oeiras. Second-tier side Torrense claimed a stunning 2-1 victory against giants Sporting.
The underdogs took an early lead through Zohi in the 4th minute. Although Luis Suarez equalized for Sporting in the 54th minute, the Lisbon club could not find a winning goal in regular time.
The match was decided in extra time when Stopira converted a penalty in the 113th minute to seal the win. This historic triumph earns Torrense a place in the main stage of the Europa League for the upcoming season.
