Following a difficult start to the Apertura 2026 tournament, where Tigres currently sits in 16th place after six matches, the Monterrey-based club has begun an active search for attacking reinforcements. Under coach Víctor Manuel Vucetich, the team has struggled with efficiency, prompting the front office to scan the transfer market.

One of the primary targets is Argentine striker Luciano Gondou, who currently plays for CSKA Moscow. The 25-year-old, who previously had a stint in the Russian league with Zenit, has reportedly been the subject of initial contact from the Tigres leadership.

The search for a new forward comes after the departures of André-Pierre Gignac and Ángel Correa, the latter of whom joined River Plate. While recent arrival Ricardo Monreal was brought in to provide depth, the club believes a proven goalscorer is necessary to complement Rodrigo Aguirre and Ozziel Herrera in the final third.

Gondou previously gained prominence as a key member of the Argentine Olympic team under Javier Mascherano, scoring four goals during the qualifying process for Paris 2024. The next few hours are expected to be decisive in determining whether a deal for the Argentine can be finalized.
