Thousands of tickets remain available for USA World Cup opener
With two weeks until the World Cup kicks off, over 3,500 tickets remain unsold for the United States' opening match against Paraguay.
With just two weeks remaining before the 2026 World Cup begins, ticket sales for the United States' opening match against Paraguay have raised concerns. Despite being billed as a marquee fixture, more than 3,500 tickets remained unsold on the primary FIFA portal as of Thursday evening.
The situation is further complicated by over 6,500 tickets listed on the resale platform. Some of these are being offered at rates significantly lower than the primary prices set by FIFA last October. With top-tier category tickets priced at $2,735, the high cost has been cited by analysts as a potential barrier for prospective attendees.
FIFA has maintained its pricing structure throughout the spring, despite evidence that sales for the match at SoFi Stadium are trailing behind other tournament fixtures. Reports have consistently indicated that demand for this specific opener has not matched the pace seen at other venues.
As FIFA continues to release tickets in small batches, the market remains soft. It is currently unclear whether the governing body will implement price adjustments or alternative distribution strategies to ensure the 69,650-seat stadium is full for the June 12 kickoff.
