FIFA clears Bergson and Brad Tapp for Malaysia ahead of ASEAN Cup
FIFA has officially confirmed the eligibility of Bergson da Silva and Brad Tapp to represent the Malaysia national team for the upcoming ASEAN Cup.

The Malaysia national team has received a significant boost ahead of the inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup, with FIFA confirming that Bergson da Silva and Brad Tapp are eligible to represent the country.
The 35-year-old Brazilian striker Bergson, who plays for Johor Darul Ta'zim, secured his eligibility after meeting the five-year residency requirement. His prolific record of 198 goals in 193 matches makes him a key addition for the Harimau Malaya. Meanwhile, 25-year-old defender Brad Tapp, who joined JDT from Australian outfit Central Coast Mariners, was cleared via his ancestry after verifying he had never played for Australia at the senior level.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) confirmed that FIFA has completed its review process for both players. Interim coach Tan Cheng Hoe can now integrate them into the squad for the tournament in Jakarta, which runs from September 25 to October 5.
The status of two other JDT players, Manuel Hidalgo and Shane Lowry, is still in the review and verification process by FIFA, and FAM is still waiting for an official decision from the world governing body. Football Association of Malaysia
