Sporting boss backs Luis Suárez's commitment

Sporting CP head coach Rui Borges has stepped in to address speculation about the current situation and future of Colombian striker Luis Javier Suárez. Ahead of the league match against Nacional, the manager sought to put an end to rumors that have circulated since the close of the European transfer window.

Addressing questions about the forward's commitment levels after being linked to clubs like Barcelona and Fenerbahce, Borges was firm: "100% (committed), he gives the answer, and he has already given it. It's as simple as that." The striker has already netted three goals so far this season.

Borges also addressed media criticism regarding the player's demeanor on the pitch. "Regarding smiling, I do see him smile. I am with them every day. He is not obliged to be smiling all the time," the coach stated, dismissing the external interpretations of the player's body language.

The club's hierarchy previously emphasized that keeping the striker, who scored 38 goals last season, was a priority during the market. Suárez has now accumulated 41 goals in 57 appearances since joining the club.
