Czech champions Sparta Prague have officially announced the signing of 25-year-old Norwegian striker Jonathan Braut Brunes. The forward is the cousin of Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland.
Brunes joins from Polish club Rakow Czestochowa on a multi-year contract. While official financial terms were not disclosed, reports indicate the transfer fee is approximately €6 million. The striker has been highly productive over the last two seasons, netting 40 goals across all competitions.
His ability to score in different ways combined with his versatility makes him a striker who can be effective in different tactical systems and against different types of opponents. Tomas Rosicky
Sparta sporting director Tomas Rosicky praised the newcomer's football intelligence, noting his ability to find space between lines and his movement behind opposing defensive lines.
The player comes from an extensive footballing family, which includes Erling Haaland, Brondby defender Emma Braut Brunes, and Albert Braut Tjaland. Brunes is expected to feature for Sparta in next month's Champions League third qualifying round against French side Lyon.
