Spain has officially made football history. Following the men's national team's 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina, the nation has become the first to hold both the men's and women's World Cup titles simultaneously since the inception of the women's tournament in 1991.
This milestone follows the success of the Spanish women's team, who claimed their world title three years ago after defeating England in the final.
Previously, no other nation had managed to hold both major trophies at the same time. While Germany has won both competitions in the past, their respective championship cycles never overlapped.
This achievement highlights Spain's current dominance in international football. In 2024, the men's team secured both the European Championship and the Olympic Games, while the women's team won the first two editions of the Nations League in 2024 and 2025.
