Shakhtar secure title with largest margin in 9 years

In the 2025/26 season, Shakhtar Donetsk finished 12 points clear of runners-up LNZ, marking their most dominant league campaign in nearly a decade.

Shakhtar Donetsk have claimed their 16th league title in the 2025/26 season. Under the management of Arda Turan, the team dominated the campaign, finishing 12 points ahead of runners-up LNZ.

This achievement marks the most commanding finish for the club in nine years. The last time the orange-and-blacks enjoyed a larger winning margin was during the 2016/17 season under Paulo Fonseca. Historically, Shakhtar have only surpassed this level of dominance on three occasions throughout their title-winning history.

Meanwhile, the race for the second spot remained significantly tighter. LNZ managed to secure silver by finishing just one point ahead of bronze medalists Polissya. Such a narrow gap between the second and third place is rare in Ukrainian football history, having occurred only in the 1993/94 and 2019/20 seasons, while the 2022/23 campaign saw Dnipro-1 and Zorya finish with identical point totals.
