Barcelona continue to see an exodus of talent following their recent Champions League triumph. The Catalan club has officially confirmed the departure of 23-year-old star forward Salma Paralluelo, who has joined French side Lyon on a four-year contract.
This marks the first professional spell outside of Spain for the international winger. At Lyon, she will reunite with former Barcelona coach Jonatan Giraldez, who is currently spearheading an ambitious project at the French club.
Paralluelo leaves the Blaugrana after four remarkable seasons, during which she secured 14 titles and scored 72 goals in 131 appearances. Her performance was pivotal in the recent Champions League final, where she netted twice. She was also recognized as the best young player at the 2023 World Cup.
Her exit is part of a broader wave of departures from Barcelona, following the exit of Alexia Putellas to London City Lionesses. These losses present a significant challenge for the club to replace the core players who delivered European success.
Lyon, meanwhile, remains highly active in the transfer market, adding Paralluelo to a recruitment list that includes Caroline Weir, Marie-Louise Grøss, and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd, signaling their intent to reclaim a spot among Europe's elite.
