Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos close in on Internacional de Limeira takeover
Brazil legends Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos are set to acquire an 80% stake in Internacional de Limeira after members approved the takeover plan.

Legendary Brazilian players Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos are nearing the acquisition of a controlling stake in Brazilian club Internacional de Limeira. An extraordinary general assembly of the club has overwhelmingly approved the transition to a SAF (Sociedade Anonima do Futebol) entity and the sale of 80 percent of shares to an investor group.
The deal, valued at up to R$ 450 million (£64m/$87m), now requires only final bureaucratic clearance and formal sign-off from governing bodies. The consortium is headed by executive Enrico Ambrogini, who previously worked with Ronaldo at Cruzeiro and Real Valladolid, and includes Saudi Prince Abdullah bin Saad bin Abdulaziz Al Saud alongside other investors.
Ambrogini, speaking on the project's financial roadmap, clarified that the move is a structured business plan rather than a charitable endeavor. His model aims for financial stability by the sixth year and includes a significant capital injection to clear club debts. The long-term sporting goal is to see the club return to Brazil's top flight within the next decade.
Internacional de Limeira currently competes in the regional Paulista Serie A2 but recently secured a place in the final quadrangular stage of national Serie C. As the club finalizes its transition to the new ownership structure, the board is focused on maintaining this on-field momentum to support the climb through the Brazilian league pyramid.
