Rodri: Barcelona are not Champions League favourites yet

Barcelona midfielder Rodri has offered a realistic assessment of the club's continental ambitions. Despite securing back-to-back La Liga titles, the Catalan side remains focused on ending a 12-year drought in the Champions League.
In a recent interview, Rodri urged caution, stating that while the squad has potential, they are not yet among the tournament's top favourites. "The Champions League is achievable, but I don’t think we’re favourites. It’s that final step we need to take to establish ourselves," the midfielder explained.

Rodri highlighted that raw attacking flair is insufficient for European glory. According to the midfielder, understanding how to manage critical moments—such as avoiding disciplinary issues or unnecessary concessions—is what distinguishes champions.
Drawing from his own lengthy pursuit of European success, Rodri emphasized that this learning process is inevitable. "Before you win, you have to lose and you have to learn," he noted. As Barcelona navigates the current campaign, they look to combine their domestic strength with the tactical wisdom required to finally reclaim their place at the top of European football.
