Real Madrid have taken decisive action to sign star Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva. According to Fabrizio Romano, the club has already sent an official offer to the player, and the parties are currently in advanced negotiations.
The main driving force behind this potential move is Real Madrid's incoming manager, Jose Mourinho. For the Portuguese coach, signing his compatriot is the absolute number one priority for the current transfer window.
Madrid are confident that their offer and the lure of Mourinho will allow them to beat competition from La Liga rivals Barcelona and Atletico, who have also been actively interested in the player.
Bernardo Silva is currently one of the most sought-after players on the market, as he is available on a free transfer. The midfielder recently left Manchester City after nine years, where he became a club legend and an integral part of their domestic and European success. In the 2025/26 season, he made 53 appearances for the English side across all competitions, recording three goals and five assists.
