Pitso Mosimane reappointed as South Africa head coach

Pitso Mosimane has been officially reappointed as head coach of South Africa's men's national team. The 62-year-old replaces Hugo Broos, who stepped down from the role when his five-year contract expired at the end of July.

This marks a return to the national setup for Mosimane, who previously served as the manager of Bafana Bafana between July 2010 and June 2012. The South Africa Football Association executive committee approved the appointment on August 8, and the former Mamelodi Sundowns boss was officially unveiled in Johannesburg on Tuesday.

During his initial tenure, Mosimane's time in charge ended following a 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in a 2014 World Cup qualifier. He also experienced a difficult exit from the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign due to a misunderstanding of group standings.

Since leaving the national team, Mosimane has built an extensive resume at the club level. He achieved significant success with Mamelodi Sundowns and Egyptian giants Al Ahly, where he won the African Champions League on three occasions. His recent career has also included managerial roles in Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, and Iran.
