Newcastle United have stepped up their search for an attacking reinforcement following the departure of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona. The club is now tracking Norwegian international Antonio Nusa as a primary target, bolstered by a significant price drop from RB Leipzig.
Club scouts recently evaluated the youngster during a World Cup match against Senegal. While the forward remains under contract until 2029, the German club's decision to lower their valuation has suddenly made a move to the Premier League more viable.
Magpies manager Eddie Howe is reportedly impressed by the winger's defensive work rate and tactical flexibility. Regarding his playing philosophy, Nusa noted:
I love one-on-one situations. It’s what I enjoy most about football – dribbling, having the freedom to create something on the pitch. Work hard, but never lose the joy. Antonio Nusa
Newcastle face stiff competition for the forward, with Juventus, Bayern Munich, Tottenham Hotspur, and Crystal Palace also monitoring his situation. After missing out on Victor Munoz, who joined Liverpool, the St James' Park hierarchy are under pressure to act decisively to avoid falling behind their rivals.
