Newcastle United are in advanced talks to sign Republic of Ireland forward Leanne Kiernan from Liverpool. As the 27-year-old remains under contract with the Reds for at least another year, the second-tier side is expected to pay a transfer fee to secure her services.
Kiernan has spent five years at Liverpool, famously playing a pivotal role in their 2022 second-tier title win where she finished as the club's top scorer with 14 goals. However, opportunities have been limited under current Liverpool manager Gareth Taylor, leading to a loan spell at Nottingham Forest during the second half of last season.
The move would provide significant attacking depth for Newcastle, who have already completed six signings this summer as they aim to compete for the title. With Liverpool having bolstered their own attacking ranks by signing Vivien Endemann from Wolfsburg, a departure for Kiernan seems increasingly likely.
