Newcastle agree £34m deal for Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba

Newcastle United have agreed a deal worth up to £34m to sign Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba. The move marks a significant addition to the Magpies' midfield following a busy transfer window.
The 20-year-old Frenchman, who made his senior debut in August 2025, is scheduled to arrive on Tyneside this Thursday to complete his medical examination and finalize a long-term contract.
The club has been actively reshaping its midfield following the sale of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham last month. While Newcastle already secured 18-year-old Sean Steur from Ajax, they missed out on Freiburg's Johan Manzambi, who opted for Aston Villa last week.
Bamba arrives with impressive stats from Ligue 1. Among midfielders who logged at least 500 minutes last season, he ranked in the top five for successful duels (9.1 per game), tackles (3.6), and successful take-ons (1.6), highlighting the physical profile he brings to the squad.
