Mykhailo Mudryk named worst Chelsea transfer of the Todd Boehly era
British media have evaluated Chelsea's transfer business under Todd Boehly, ranking Mykhailo Mudryk as the least successful signing.

British publication Football London has released a comprehensive ranking of Chelsea transfers during the tenure of American businessman Todd Boehly. Over four years of extensive restructuring, the club spent over one billion pounds, signing 31 players. This analysis comes as leadership changes occur at Stamford Bridge: Boehly has sold his approximate 25% stake to Clearlake Capital, valuing the club, including debts, at around 5 billion pounds.
The worst acquisition of the Boehly era was identified as Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk, signed from Shakhtar Donetsk for 70 million euros plus 30 million in bonuses. The decision was driven by his on-pitch inconsistency and a high-profile scandal that harmed the club's reputation: the Ukrainian served a doping-related suspension from late 2024 until the summer of this year. Having played 58 games for the Blues, Mudryk is currently on loan at Tottenham as he attempts to restart his career. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Datro Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, and Jimmy-Jay Morgan also featured in the bottom five.
Conversely, Cole Palmer was unanimously named the club's best signing. The Englishman joined from Manchester City for 40 million pounds in the summer of 2023 and immediately became a team leader. In his debut season, he recorded 25 goals and 15 assists across all competitions, earning the Premier League Young Player of the Season award. Joining him in the top five signings were Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella, Enzo Fernandez, and Malo Gusto.
