Morgan Rogers enjoyed a successful start to his Chelsea career, finding the net in a 3-2 victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage. The forward, who joined the club from Aston Villa earlier in the window, made an immediate impression in his first appearance under Xabi Alonso.
Chelsea took an early lead through Joao Pedro after just 32 seconds, but Fulham responded through Joshua King. Rogers restored the lead before halftime, providing the momentum that helped the visitors secure all three points.
It was a great game to play in. Obviously to score and help the team win, that’s everything that I wanted from a debut. Morgan Rogers
Operating in a fluid number ten role alongside Cole Palmer, Rogers showed signs of strong chemistry within Alonso’s tactical system. Palmer added a third goal shortly after the break, and despite a late strike from Gonzalo Garcia, Chelsea managed to hold firm.
Rogers, who arrived at the club following international duty at the World Cup, admitted he is still managing his fitness levels. He was substituted with ten minutes remaining due to fatigue. The 24-year-old believes he has more levels to reach as he settles into his new environment and prepares for the intense Premier League schedule ahead.
