Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is reportedly nearing a loan move to Dutch side Ajax. Sources indicate that the Amsterdam club considered several candidates for the position, including Inter Milan's Yann Sommer, but have identified the German as their primary target.
The past season was challenging for ter Stegen. He joined Girona on loan in January but played only two matches before suffering a hamstring injury. This setback ruled him out of contention for the German national team's squad for the 2026 World Cup.
It is worth noting that Ajax appointed former Girona manager Míchel as head coach in early June, which may facilitate the goalkeeper's integration. The Dutch side has also been linked with interest in Roma forward Artem Dovbyk.
Last season, Ajax finished fifth in the Eredivisie, eventually securing a spot in the UEFA Conference League qualification through the play-offs.
