Manchester United is no longer permitted to isolate players from the first-team squad. According to reports from the BBC, new regulations established by FIFA and the players' union FIFPRO have officially banned the practice of excluding footballers from training due to transfer or personnel decisions.
Previously, the club utilized a strategy of moving unwanted players into restricted groups, limiting their access to first-team infrastructure. This approach, which saw several players depart in previous seasons, is now prohibited under the updated framework.
The ruling directly impacts the situation regarding Marcus Rashford, who is returning to Manchester United following a one-year loan at Barcelona. Although the club is reportedly open to selling the English forward, they cannot restrict his access to the training ground or the main squad.
Following the conclusion of the World Cup, Rashford is expected to join Michael Carrick's side for the pre-season camp. The new guidelines ensure that the player maintains full rights to participate in training sessions regardless of the club's long-term intentions for his future.
